Never Shop on an Empty Stomach

Yesterday, I stopped by Marion to get a card...

1 card...

ONE card...

...

... I came back with 2 roast chickens, 2.5 kg of meat, a bag of rocket leaves, 0.5 kg of chocolates, 3 packets of crackers, and a box of mixed nuts. And the card.

Gah! Lesson learnt, I should never go shopping on an empty stomach ;)

At least I won't have to worry about going hungry for the next 2-3 days or so... Heh.

Forgive Me When I Whine

Today, upon a bus, I saw a lovely maid with golden hair. I envied her, she seemed so happy, and wished I were so fair; When suddenly she rose to leave, I saw her hobble down the aisle. She had one foot and wore a crutch. But as she passed, a smile.
*
O God, forgive me when I whine. I have two feet, the world is mine.
*
I stopped to buy some candy. The lad who sold it had such charm. I talked with him, he seemed so glad. If I were late, it'd do no harm. And as I left, he said to me, "I thank you, you've been so kind. It's nice to talk with folks like you. You see, " he said, "I'm blind."
*
O God, forgive me when I whine. I have 2 eyes, the world is mine.
*
Later while walking down the street, I saw a child with eyes of blue. He stood and watched the others play. He did not know what to do. I stopped a moment and then I said, "Why don't you join the others, dear?" He looked ahead without a word. And then I knew, he couldn't hear.
*
Oh God, forgive me when I whine. I have 2 ears, the world is mine. With feet to take me where I'd go. With eyes to see the sunset's glow. With ears to hear what I'd know.
*
Oh God, forgive me when I whine. I've been blessed indeed, the world is mine.

Sometimes, we focus so much on what we don't have, that we lose sight of what we've got.
And sometimes, we get so caught up in our own difficulties, shortcomings, and problems, that we forget to look outside of ourselves and at the world around us.
Then, when we do look around at the bigger scheme of things, we realise that the mounds we were whinging about were actually molehills, compared to the mountains all around us ...

What a smack on the head ... ouch :) We can be such egocentric and ungrateful beings sometimes, huh?

Thank you God for the reminder, and your many blessings that I take for granted far too often...
